This was our first teppanyaki experience in Japan, and it was honestly underwhelming. The beef quality was decent, but the price was far too high for the portion we received. We’ve dined at a certified Kobe restaurant in Kobe where the pricing was much more reasonable, so this felt unjustified. Being in Shinjuku shouldn’t be an excuse for such inflated prices. The Kobe soup portion was extremely minimal, which was disappointing. What was even more surprising—and frankly off-putting—was being told that the owner wants to introduce a tipping culture in Japan. That felt completely out of place.
